HDR Toning

A very popular post process now days is HDR (High Dynamic Range). When done correctly and carefully is a thing of beauty. But if you are not careful, it can turn a good picture into a horrible one.

I decided to take a shot at an old picture I took from a cruise in 2009. It is a plain picture of buildings, the harbor, and some storm clouds in the distance.

Taken with a Nikon S220 Coolpix point and shoot camera. Nothing fancy, handheld off the rail. After opening it in Photoshop, and applying the HDR Toning and minor adjustments, this is what I got.

Not too bad for using only one picture. I will have to start looking for more chances to use this feature of Photoshop.

Working with chrome

While working on the motorcycle picture in my Gallery page, I began to like how chrome looked on the pictures. So, while attending a function at a local fire station, I decided to take a few pictures of the trucks they have there. One of those pictures is the one below:

I liked the detail on the running boards and the tire. The only problem I had after shooting the picture was the angle in which I had to take it in order to avoid a reflection. That is where photoshop comes in. After woring for a little while, I came up with this finished picture:

Post Production

I wanted to try my hand at post-production and was fortunate enough to come across two willing volunteers.

With this model, I was able to remove scars and abrasions from his chin, whitening and fix some teeth, and brighten his eyes.

In her case, I removed stray hairs from her face, brighten her eyes, did not have to whitened her teeth too much, applied color to her lips, got rid of hot spots (shiny spots) on forehead, and softened her skin a litle.

I want to thank my models for giving me the opportunity to not only take their picture, but also use them for training and display purposes.

Nature’s Beauty

Today I have started to add photos to my gallery, which will be changing for the better. I have decided to start by taking nature photographs to get my eye for beauty a workout of sorts.

The shape of this flower cought my eye, but it wasn’t until I focused the lens that I notice the beautiful yellow color.

The shape and color of this flower caught my attention right away. Nice round and different shades of pink.

I hope to continue to bring more pictures of the beautiful nature of the southern states.
